On the Path to Theatre Criticism
A training program divided into four sessions focusing on the analysis of a theatrical play. The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to the tools needed to analyze a theatre piece. The analysis begins with the play itself and its components – that is, the performed text – before moving on to stage writing.
Participants will also become familiar with the codes of stage writing in order to understand its structure and discover the principles behind its creation. Aesthetic approaches, in turn, help deepen understanding and analysis. This workshop thus provides a way to grasp the importance of criticism as a reflection of the very essence of theatrical action, rather than as a mere textual supplement.
