Conversation with Patrice Pavis

A major figure in contemporary theatre studies, French theatre theorist Patrice Pavis holds a unique place in the field of theatrical research. Emeritus Professor at the University of Kent, he is the author of essential works such as The Dictionary of the Theatre and Contemporary Stage Directing, as well as numerous publications on theatrical semiotics and the interplay of cultures in contemporary theatre practice.

He recently published The Analysis of Performances: Theatre, Mime, Dance, Cinema (2021). His research offers an intercultural reflection on a dynamic art form continuously enriched by an ever-renewed dialogue between the stage and its audience.
